James Tarkowski scored a dramatic 91st-minute equaliser as Everton fought back to secure a 1-1 draw away to Bournemouth, denying Marco Rose a first Premier League victory as Cherries boss.
Having opened the campaign with two consecutive wins, Everton started on the front foot and came close to taking an early lead.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s inswinging corner was met by Jarrad Branthwaite, but Đorđe Petrović produced a superb one-handed save to keep out the defender’s header. Bournemouth quickly responded, with Rayan cutting inside from the right before firing an effort straight at Jordan Pickford from a tight angle.
Petrović continued to impress in the Bournemouth goal and was fortunate moments later when he spilled Tyrique George’s effort into the path of the in-form Thierno Barry. The goalkeeper recovered quickly, standing tall to deny Barry and prevent him from adding to the four goals he had scored across his previous two matches.
The save proved crucial as Bournemouth grew into the contest and eventually found the breakthrough shortly before half-time. After Evanilson produced excellent hold-up play, Alex Scott collected his lay-off and saw his effort take a deflection before nestling in the bottom corner.

Everton should have levelled before the interval, but Barry could only find the side netting following a swift counter-attack. The striker was presented with another excellent opportunity just three minutes after the restart when he capitalised on hesitation in the Bournemouth defence, only to fire straight at Petrović.
As the match progressed, Bournemouth became increasingly comfortable at frustrating David Moyes’ side, with Everton’s earlier chances beginning to feel like missed opportunities. James Hill almost doubled the hosts’ advantage but was unable to force the ball over the line from close range.
Bournemouth came even closer moments later when Rayan forced Pickford into a superb one-handed stop, before a desperate block denied Evanilson from converting the rebound.
Those missed chances ultimately came back to haunt the hosts in stoppage time. A defensive mix-up following an Everton corner presented Tarkowski with the opportunity, and the defender made no mistake, drilling a half-volley into the net to snatch a point for the visitors.
The late equaliser preserved Everton’s unbeaten start to the season, while Rose was left to settle for a draw in his first home Premier League match in charge. Bournemouth can at least take comfort from extending their unbeaten home run to 10 matches.
