The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State Chapter, has suspended all executives of the Onne Youth Association over the alleged destruction of property belonging to a traditional worshipper in Eleme Local Government Area.
The suspension was announced by the state NYCN Chairman, Amb. Amadi Bestman, in a statement dated August 19, 2026.
Amadi condemned the incident and urged youths and residents across the state to remain calm and uphold the peace established by elders and statesmen in Rivers State.
He directed the individual linked to the ownership of the destroyed property to seek legal redress against those allegedly responsible for the act.

According to him, the NYCN does not condone violence in any form and remains committed to justice, equity and the rule of law.
The state NYCN chairman also called on members of the suspended youth group to remain respectful and comply with the laws of the land while awaiting a formal response from the association.
The council apologised to the victim over the alleged destruction of the property, stressing that Rivers youths are known for promoting peace, equity and justice rather than violence.
Meanwhile, Amadi announced plans to constitute a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the Onne youth body and provide necessary directives for the community throughout the suspension period.
The NYCN said the move was aimed at preserving peace and ensuring accountability while the matter is addressed through appropriate channels.
