As part of ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 political season in Rivers State, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. David Okumgba, has paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, King Air Commodore T. E. O. Ogube, Amayanabo of Kirike Kingdom.
Okumgba was accompanied by other ADC candidates, including Hon. Golden Ikpuku, candidate for the Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Hon. Tammy Datoru, candidate for the Okrika State Constituency in the House of Assembly.
The visit was aimed at strengthening ties between the Okrika Project, the traditional institution and the people of Kirike Kingdom, while providing an opportunity for the delegation to pay respect to the monarch.
Speaking during the visit, Okumgba appreciated the traditional ruler for the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation.
The ADC deputy governorship candidate stressed the importance of engaging traditional rulers and community leaders as key stakeholders in efforts to promote the interests and well-being of the people.

Receiving the delegation, King Ogube welcomed the team and urged them to remain courageous, respect the rules of engagement, and maintain a peaceful disposition in their interactions with the people.

The monarch also emphasised the need for continuous engagement with communities to ensure that residents participate actively in initiatives designed to bring development closer to them.
The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration among political actors, traditional institutions and community stakeholders in promoting peace, unity, development and meaningful participation in the political process.
The Okrika Project described the visit as more than a courtesy call, saying it demonstrated respect for the traditional institution and a commitment to dialogue, partnership and community-driven development.
The delegation said it would continue engaging the Kirike Kingdom and other stakeholders as part of efforts to build stronger relationships and promote a united and prosperous Okrika community.
