In another development, the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala, has appealed to people living in Rivers State to adopt proactive health behaviors by adopting preventive health measures and joining the state’s health insurance scheme to access quality health services.
He appealed while appearing on a live phone-in programme organised by Today 95.5 FM in Port Harcourt.
He explained that good health must be maintained and that everybody in the state, irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds or state of origin, is eligible for registration under the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme.
According to him, it is pertinent to note that the establishment of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme aims to protect people from the costs of accessing health services.

The Executive Secretary called on employers, community leaders and other stakeholders to help campaign for enrolments.
The health insurance programme will step up its campaign in ensuring enrolment of not less than one million persons by the year 2026 in line with its mission of making quality healthcare accessible to everyone in Rivers State, he stated.
Agala stated that the health insurance programme seeks to minimize out-of-pocket expenses for the users and provide comprehensive medical care services for them.
The other major highlight that he made includes various enrolment packages that are offered under the programme, which range from individual, family, and worker enrollment packages from the informal sectors and vulnerable groups.
Residents who have not yet enrolled should seize this opportunity, considering the affordable premium rates and health packages that are provided, Agala added.
On improving service delivery, Agala noted that the health insurance programme is utilizing technology and an electronic management system to ensure improved data management and delivery of efficient services to the beneficiaries and service providers.
