The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on students and teachers to uphold integrity and strong moral values, stressing that the future and sustainability of any nation depend largely on its young people.
Olukoyede made the appeal during an educational visit by students and staff of Springfield Schools, Port Harcourt, to the EFCC’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate. The visit was organised to give participants a better understanding of the Commission’s responsibilities and its strategies for combating corruption and financial crimes.
Represented by the Acting Zonal Director of the Port Harcourt Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Hassan Saidu, the EFCC chairman noted that the character and conduct of young people play a significant role in national development. He also acknowledged the contributions of teachers in shaping responsible future leaders, describing their role as vital to society.

Speaking during the programme, the Head of Public Affairs at the Port Harcourt Directorate, Akpos Mezeh-Ekisowei, highlighted the importance of prevention in the fight against corruption. She explained that educating citizens and promoting ethical behaviour remain effective ways of reducing financial and economic crimes.
Officials of the Commission also educated the students on cyber safety, urging them to protect personal information, use strong passwords and avoid sharing sensitive banking details with strangers.
The students were further advised to stay away from fraudulent activities and other forms of corruption that could jeopardise their future.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of facilities within the directorate, including the forensic laboratory and other operational units.
