As part of the measures put in place to tackle cultism, drug abuse, among other social vices, the Rivers State Police Command is intensifying its activities by organizing a sensitization exercise among the students in various schools across the state before the official relaunch of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).
Led by the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, the sensitization exercise was organized on Tuesday at Cornerstone International School, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt in conjunction with other members of the Police Management Team, National Coordinator of POCACOV and Rivers State POCACOV team members.
At the event, Adepoju encouraged the students to be vigilant and stay away from cultism, drug abuse, bullying, robbery, among other criminal activities, urging the youth to contribute to community security through their good behavior.

In addition, he warned the students against negative peer influence, mixing up with criminals, taking unknown substances offered by strangers and boarding vehicles driven by strangers.
The commissioner encouraged the students to be diligent, disciplined, and honest, saying that the criminal acts such as cultism, internet fraud, and drug abuse will only bring destruction to the individuals without any future.
The Superintendent of Police Onne Ikwen who is the National Coordinator of POCACOV equally encouraged the students to reject peer pressure and take positive actions that will impact their lives in the future positively, encouraging them to maintain good character and make their families proud.
She congratulated the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police on the relaunch of POCACOV campaign in Rivers State.
The sensitization exercise was graced by some top police officials such as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Alhassan Kawo; Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Grace Iringe-Koko; Rivers State POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Gabriel Captain Ogbuewe; Chairman of the POCACOV Volunteer Club in Rivers State, Eke Onwuka; among other volunteers from the club.
