Following the development of a similar trend, the Rivers State Police Command has maintained its zero-tolerance attitude to misconduct in the force through the suspension of a DPO from his office pending the results of investigations into reports of misconduct against him that are making the rounds on social and other online media platforms.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Saturday, indicating that he was immediately suspended from his office to facilitate proper investigation of the report.
From the statement, it emerged that the report is in response to allegations of misconduct made against the DPO, which became the subject of public talk recently on several online media platforms.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju stated his grave concern over the report and said the command will never condone any form of misconduct, abuse of office, or any act capable of eroding public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Adepoju further assured members of the public that the investigation would be done professionally and diligently, noting that the right action would be taken in respect of what would be established from the investigation.
In addition, he assured that the Command was committed to observing integrity, discipline, and effective service delivery, which are among the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
Also, the police commissioner appreciated the vigilance of members of the public and encouraged citizens to continue to report any form of indiscipline.
Moreover, the Command advised members of the public to take advantage of the Complaint Response Unit and Control Room lines of the Command in reporting their complaints and security issues.
The Rivers State Police Command emphasized that it will maintain transparency, accountability, and professionalism in its operation as it strives to build public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force.
