Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has spoken out against TikTok users circulating her photos with false “RIP” captions on social media.
The actress expressed her frustration in a video shared on her Snapchat page, where she warned those behind the posts to immediately take them down. Clearly displeased by the trend, Toyin said she would not tolerate anyone using her pictures to spread fake death rumours online.
She also made it clear that anyone caught sharing such content should not expect her to listen to excuses or pleas from others on their behalf. According to the actress, the situation has gone too far and those involved need to stop before it escalates further.
“You on TikTok, posting my pictures and putting RIP , if I catch you I won’t listen to anyone begging on your behalf, go and delete and stop, everyone is seeing now, if I catch you I won’t listen. I shall not die,” she wrote.
Supporters of the actress also flooded comment sections with messages of encouragement, describing the act as insensitive and unnecessary.
Over the years, several public figures have had to deal with false death rumours online, with many calling for stricter measures against users who deliberately spread misleading information.
