The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has concluded the screening of aspirants seeking the party’s ticket for the State House of Assembly elections.
The exercise, which took place at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt yesterday, saw dozens of hopefuls appear before the screening panel in what party officials described as a calm and orderly process.
Speaking after the exercise, the secretary of the screening committee, Tanko Yamowa, who stood in for committee chairman Mauriana Ajibola, said the process went smoothly without any form of disturbance.
According to him, the committee had prepared for possible challenges but was satisfied with the peaceful conduct of the aspirants throughout the exercise.
He said the atmosphere reflected unity within the party and expressed optimism that the same spirit would continue during the primaries and the general election.
