The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise, calling for qualified candidates to apply for vacant positions at its Nigeria National Office before the May 25 deadline.
In a post shared on its verified social media platform on Wednesday, WAEC said the vacancies cut across general duties, accounts, ICT, audit, and secretarial roles.
The Council added that the positions range from Assistant Examinations Officer III to Examinations Officer and Confidential Secretary, with requirements spanning ND, NCE, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree qualifications.
For entry‑level roles such as Assistant Examinations Officer III (General Duties), applicants must hold either an ND or NCE in any discipline, possess computer literacy, and have five credits in SSCE/WASSCE including English and Mathematics.

Specialist roles in accounts, ICT, and audit require relevant diplomas, while higher‑level positions such as Examinations Officer demand HND or Bachelor’s Degrees alongside NYSC completion.

WAEC emphasized that all applicants must be computer literate, demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and possess analytical and organisational ability.
The Council also noted that candidates must not be above 40 years of age.
Applications, according to the Council, are to be submitted online through the WAEC recruitment portal at recruitment.waec.com.ng, with the deadline set for May 25, 2026.
The recruitment drive reflects WAEC’s effort to strengthen its workforce ahead of the 2026 examination cycle, ensuring efficiency in service delivery and reinforcing its role as the regional body responsible for standardized assessment across West Africa.
