West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) and APM Terminals Nigeria have announced a major investment of N167 billion ($115 million) to enhance safety, security, technology, and operational efficiency at the Onne Port.
The disclosure was made by WACT Managing Director, Jeethu Jose, during the maiden Customer Excellence Awards and Dinner in Port Harcourt, an event that brought together industry leaders, partners, and customers to celebrate achievements in Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Jose attributed the milestone to consistent customer support, noting that collaboration and constructive feedback have helped the terminal adopt digital platforms, improve cargo flow, and strengthen operational processes.
He reaffirmed WACT’s commitment to becoming a model terminal through continuous investment and customer-focused innovation.
Similarly, APM Terminals Nigeria CEO, Frederik Klinke, emphasized the role of customers in driving improvements, highlighting gains in safety compliance, wider adoption of new services, and the introduction of additional shipping lines at Onne. He said the company’s 2026 agenda would focus on boosting exports, enhancing efficiency, and expanding partnerships across the supply chain.
WACT’s Chief Commercial Officer, Westtar Kapito, and Commercial Manager, Ismaila Badjie, reiterated the organisation’s dedication to customer satisfaction, encouraging clients to sustain the flow of valuable feedback.
The award ceremony honoured outstanding importers, exporters, shipping agencies, and logistics partners for their consistency, innovation, and resilience in 2025.
Recipients, including Ademoke International Agency and Hull Blyth Nigeria, expressed appreciation and pledged continued collaboration.
The event also featured government officials and maritime executives, closing with renewed commitment to building a more efficient, customer-driven port system.
