The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited to begin a new 12-month training programme, equipping 300 young Nigerian graduates with vital skills in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering.
The NCDMB/Renaissance Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme combines three months of classroom learning with nine months of on-the-job training at partner companies.
Organisers select 240 trainees for Lagos and 60 for Port Harcourt. Participants receive practical exposure and globally recognised certifications to prepare them for careers in the oil and gas industry.
Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of NCDMB, describes the initiative as a key step toward building local capacity and supporting economic growth.
Represented by Mr. Tari Bufazi, Assistant Manager of Human Capacity Development, he stresses that skills in instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical engineering remain essential for safety, efficiency, and new investments in the sector.

“This programme helps close skill gaps and prepares participants to become innovators and industry leaders,” he says.
Engr. Olarenwaju Lanre Olawuyi, General Manager of Nigerian Content Development at Renaissance, reaffirms the company’s commitment to indigenous capacity building.
Represented by Engr. Funso Alabi, he explains that the training covers technical areas such as mechanical systems, control and instrumentation, software, networking, and cybersecurity.
Ranti Omole, CEO of Radial Circle, the lead training provider, notes that thousands of applicants competed for the places.
He adds that the focus goes beyond certificates to produce field-ready professionals with strong safety culture and teamwork skills.
Stakeholders say the programme advances the goals of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act and the 10 Year Strategic Roadmap by strengthening the local talent pipeline.
