In spite of the fact that the away team, El-Kanemi Warriors took the lead two minutes before the hour mark through Jonas Emmanuel, silencing the home fans in Ikenne. However, Remo Stars stood on the solid ground never to lose hope, refused to give up and pushed relentlessly for an equalizer.
The home fans’ hope was raised and fortunately for them, the effort paid off when Victor Mbaoma converted from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to level the score. Before the end of the match, Michael Ibe, a former Abia Warriors striker sealed all three points for the hosts with a composed finish.
That notwithstanding, other teams like Plateau United continued their solid home form at the New Jos Stadium, with a narrow 1-0 win against Bendel Insurance. the ‘super’ Saka Gafar netted the only goal of the game to hand Plateau United the maximum points.
However, it will also be tremendous to point out that Bendel Insurance amongst other NPFL teams, are still winless under new manager Kennedy Boboye, piling pressure on the technical bench as the Benin Arsenal search for stability.
