Yul Edochie has turned a long-standing drama within his family circle into a major court case. Actress Judy Austin has dragged veteran Nollywood star Rita Edochie before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, demanding punitive damages of ₦1 billion over alleged defamatory statements.
Austin officially disclosed the legal action on her Instagram page on Monday, posting images of the writ of summons sealed by the court accompanied by the stern headline: “Enough is enough!”.
The legal mail filed on Austin’s behalf using the senior legal team led by Anoji Obinnaya Obi, SAN, outlines heavy financial penalties and public retrenchment.
In addition to the ₦1 billion in preferential compensation, the suit demands ₦50 million to cover the cost of legal prosecution, along with a 10% post-judgment interest on the total sum until it is fully liquidated.
Beyond financial compensation, Austin’s legal team is looking to the FCT High Court to issue a perpetual injunction against Rita Edochie, her agents, or representatives from making similar public statements about her personal life or marriage.
