NDLEA, Partners to Hold War Against Drug Abuse at UNIPORT on 30 October

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rivers State Command, in collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), has unveiled plans to host the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign at the premises of the institution.

According to the document shared, it was noted that the drug awareness campaign is scheduled to hold on 30 October 2025, at the New Convocation Arena, Abuja Campus, UNIPORT, Choba.

The initiative, aimed at promoting a drug-free academic environment, is part of ongoing efforts to educate students and staff on the dangers of substance abuse and its far-reaching impact on health and society.

Further details disclosed that the Preparations for the event were finalised during a courtesy visit by the PCRC delegation, led by its State Chairman, Ambassador Voke Emore, to the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Chibuike Wokocha; the President of the Students’ Union Government; and the Rivers State NDLEA Commander, Commander Ahmed Mamuda, on 20 October.

The PCRC team includes Nnamdi Esimai (Organising Secretary), Clifford Wilcox (Financial Secretary), Ambassador Deacon Osifoh (State Coordinator).

Others includes Engineer Hardy Kinikanwo, and Lisa Oladipupo. Members of the BBQ Bikers Club, led by Emma Whyte, also joined the delegation in a show of support.

According to the organisers, the WADA campaign serves as a preventive measure against the rising trend of drug misuse among youths, while reinforcing the importance of discipline and healthy living within the university community.
