NOA Set to Carry Out Sensitization Campaign in Bayelsa State on FG Policies

The National Orientation Agency, NOA says it will soon kick start a national sensitization campaign on five thematic areas across the country to enlighten citizens on government policies and programmes.

The Director General of the Agency , Mallam Lanre Issa- Oniru stated this during a news briefing held at the Agency’s office located at the federal Secretariat complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

The DG who was represented by the Director, Environment, Climate and Energies in the Agency Mr Emeka Egbugara explained that the thematic areas include National values Re- orientation for students against sign out extreme practices, National campaign on flood mitigation, National enlightenment campaign on government policies and programmes, National campaign on Nigeria identity project and national symbols and National security awareness in communities.

He noted that these campaigns which would be carried out through, town hall meetings, advocacy visits to traditional rulers, visitation to schools , parks and markets would educate the people on the NELFUND students loan scheme, Presidential loan and grant schemes amongst other palliatives by the federal government geared towards improving the living standard of the people.

In the area of flood sensitization and control, the DG NOA stated that the federal government disbursed about three billion naira to each flood prone states last year to mitigate flooding and called on Nigerians to adhere strictly to the predictions and warnings by the Nigeria Metrological Agency NIMET during this season.

Earlier, the Bayelsa state Director NOA, Mrs Olobio Grace – Ebiakpo who commended the federal government for it’s laudable policies and programmes appealed to the media to be partners in progress in its sensitization campaign efforts.

Mrs Ebiakpo maintained that the agency would ensure the enlightenment campaigns on the five thematic areas are carried out in various communities in the eight local government areas of Bayelsa state.
