Kidnnaper

Suspected cultists in the early hours of Wednesday, August 27, 2025, invaded a compound on Ekwulobia Street, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, where they robbed occupants, including two female university students, of phones, laptops, cash, and other valuables.

The hoodlums, reportedly led by one Graham, allegedly gained entry by breaking a window at the back of the compound and removing the iron protector.

One of the victims, David Eze, said he lost two phones and a laptop. “When I woke up, I discovered my phones and system were missing, my room door was cut open with a knife. By the time I raised the alarm, security personnel and some tenants were already outside,” he recounted.

Another victim, a student identified as Chidinma, narrated how one of the intruders threatened her at knifepoint. “He warned me not to scream or he would stab me. He said a roommate had sent them to kill us, then took my phone and my brother’s phone before leaving,” she said.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects broke into four rooms, carting away five phones, a laptop, and an undisclosed amount of money. Two kitchen knives believed to have been abandoned by the assailants were recovered after members of a local vigilante group chased them from the area.

The matter has since been reported to the Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu. As of press time, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, had yet to respond to inquiries on the incident.
