Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle has reshuffled his squad ahead of next week’s international friendly against Russia, drafting in midfielder John Otomewo and defender Vince Osuji as replacements for Wilfred Ndidi and Akpe Victory.
Ndidi, who captained the Super Eagles in recent matches, and Akpe Victory will both miss the fixture, prompting Chelle to make late adjustments to his travelling squad.
Otomewo recently completed a move to French Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims from Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem and now has an opportunity to earn his first senior international appearance for Nigeria.
Osuji, who currently plays for Norwegian club Tromsø, has also been handed a call-up and will be aiming to impress as Chelle continues to assess new options within the national team setup.
The duo could make their Super Eagles debuts when Nigeria face Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday. The friendly is expected to provide Chelle with another opportunity to evaluate his squad ahead of future international assignments.
Nigeria and Russia last met in June 2025, when both sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
The Super Eagles arrived in Moscow on Friday and will be looking to return to winning ways after their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
