Chelle Defends CHAN 2024 Player Selection Choice‎

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has defended his selection of players for the 2024 African Nations Championship.

‎Chelle has included nine players from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL champions Remo Stars, in his final 24-man squad for the tournament.

‎The Malian coach has faced significant criticism for this decision, particularly since one of his assistants, Daniel Ogunmodede, is currently the head coach of Remo Stars.

‎Nevertheless, Chelle stated that he chose players who align with his style of play.

‎”My only consideration is that I have a philosophy. I aim to maintain possession, and when we lose the ball, I want us to apply high pressure. Therefore, I need to select players who can adapt to my philosophy,” the former head coach of the Eagles of Mali conveyed to the Super Eagles media.
