The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, RSPHCMB, has provided a new operational vehicle to Obio-Akpor Local Government Area to improve the delivery and monitoring of primary healthcare services.
The vehicle is part of the Board’s plan to provide operational vehicles for primary healthcare activities across Rivers State’s 23 Local Government Areas.
The Medical Officer of Health, Dr Chiney Babep, received the vehicle during a handover ceremony at the council secretariat on Monday.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Secretary of RSPHCMB, Dr Chituru Adele, said the vehicle would improve mobility for healthcare workers involved in supportive supervision, monitoring and programme implementation within the LGA.

Dr Adele noted that reliable transportation would enable health officials to reach healthcare facilities more effectively and strengthen supervision of primary healthcare activities.
The Vice Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Mrs Nyeche Joyce, assured that the council would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving primary healthcare delivery in the area.
She said the local government would work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that healthcare programmes receive the necessary support.
The handover was witnessed by the Council Secretary, Barrister Kelvin Akani; Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Sunny Nyeche Adibe; and directors of the Primary Health Care Management Board.
