The Bera Community of Gokana Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State has been presented with a solar-powered borehole in the quest to ensure availability of potable water to its inhabitants.
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State Chapter, Dr. Nwisabari Bani, enjoined Ogonis, especially the youths, to lead community development efforts through selfless service.
The NYCN boss made the call while commissioning the new solar-powered borehole on Saturday which was donated to the Bera Community by the Martin Duutura Foundation, saying that one does not require being in any public office to contribute meaningfully to community development.

According to Dr. Bani, provision of potable water is an intervention that will make life better for the people of the community because availability of potable water is very important for sustainable community development.
Commending the Director General of the Martin Duutura Foundation, Comrade Martin Duutura, the NYCN boss stated that the need identified by him has been addressed effectively.
Comrade Bani encouraged other benevolent Ogonis, especially young influential ones, to follow the footsteps of the project by engaging in similar projects that will be geared towards improving the quality of life in their respective communities through sustainable grassroot developments.
In his remarks during the occasion, Comrade Duutura disclosed that the foundation started the project following the difficulties that residents encountered in accessing potable water.
He urged members of the Bera Community to embrace the responsibility of managing the water point by ensuring proper maintenance, proper use, and taking care of the water taps for sustainability.
The residents were happy about the project, hoping that the solar powered water borehole would ease their burden of accessing clean water.
