Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has publicly revealed his greatest fear of not knowing when to take a bow from the music industry.
In a video interview, the superstar expressed concern about the sudden decline many celebrities experience after reaching the peak of their careers. He also highlighted the emotional difficulty of falling from grace after years of dominance and success.
Davido disclosed that he would establish a dedicated therapy centre for former top celebrities if given the opportunity. “If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful,” he stated.
“Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not.” He drew a comparison with football, noting that even accomplished players face harsh judgment despite their achievements.
“Even in soccer, you win World Cup, Champions League and other trophies and people still don’t think it is enough,” he added, referencing his friend Cristiano Ronaldo, who faced mockery after exiting the World Cup despite his legendary status.
The artist described this fear as central to his mindset. “That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up,” he said.
Davido’s honest reflections have drawn attention to the psychological pressures of sustained fame and the need for better support systems for public figures transitioning out of the spotlight.
His comments has outlined a thoughtful approach to career longevity in the entertainment industry.
