It was unanimously decided by all participants in the conference that after 33 years of wrangling with the Nigerian oil industry, it is time for solutions through peaceful negotiations.
Delegates also expressed their condemnation of the increasing number of conflicts in the Ogoni land, calling on the people of Ogoniland to opt for dialogue and peaceful coexistence rather than confrontation, while they asked the Federal Government to make sure that all agreements made in the discussions are fulfilled with sincerity.
Furthermore, the meeting asked Ogoni communities to enhance unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence as negotiations go on to achieve sustainable peace in the area.
Also, MOSOP has also expressed concern over the activities of herders in some areas of Ogoniland and requested its leaders to interact with the representatives of the Northern community in Rivers State to find a sustainable solution to the matter.
