It was a day of excitement, learning, and cultural pride as UPWA, situated on the University of Port Harcourt premises, brought students, parents, and staff together for its much-anticipated Cultural Day celebration.
The event transformed the school environment into a vibrant display of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, with pupils proudly dressed in traditional attire representing various ethnic groups from across the country. These ethnicities were Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Edo, Tiv, Ibibio, Ogoni, and other ethnic groups.
The students showcased the beauty and uniqueness of Nigeria’s diversity. One after another, the pupils entertained guests with cultural dances, songs, drama presentations, and educational displays highlighting the traditions, values, and lifestyles of their chosen ethnic groups. The atmosphere was filled with applause and excitement as students confidently demonstrated what they had learned about their respective cultures.

Speaking at the event, Professor Udeme Owunari George emphasized the importance of exposing children to different cultures from an early age. According to them, cultural education helps foster mutual respect, national unity, and a deeper appreciation of Nigeria’s diversity.
Teachers also praised the pupils for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the event, noting that the presentations reflected weeks of research, practice, and teamwork.
Parents who attended the programme expressed delight at the quality of the event and the confidence displayed by the students.
