The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has praised the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for enhancing the governance framework of the institute by appointing an Interim Chairman and members to its Governing Board.
This information was conveyed in a statement issued by DBI’s President, David Daser, on Thursday.
The institute characterized these appointments as a clear indication of the Commission’s dedication to repositioning DBI to assume a more pivotal role in Nigeria’s digital transformation and human capital development initiatives.
Princess Oforitsenere Emiko has been appointed as the Interim Chairman of the Governing Board, while Engr. Abraham Oshadami, the NCC’s Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, and Ms. Rimini Makama, the Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, have been designated as board members.
In response to the appointments, Daser remarked that this action highlights the emphasis placed on the development of digital skills and the growth of institutions within the nation’s telecommunications sector.
He commended the NCC Board and the Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Maida, for their foresight in establishing the interim board.
“The selection of these esteemed individuals is both strategic and timely. Their combined expertise, leadership skills, and extensive experience will undoubtedly enhance the Institute’s ability to fulfill its mandate as Nigeria’s leading ICT and digital skills development organization,” Daser stated.
He expressed optimism that the board would offer the necessary guidance to broaden digital literacy programs, promote innovation, and reinforce workforce development initiatives throughout the nation.
The DBI leader emphasized that the institute is crucial to efforts aimed at cultivating the digital competencies essential for supporting Nigeria’s expanding technology sector and emerging digital economy.
