Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) is intensifying efforts to promote natural gas as a cost-effective and cleaner energy source for industries, reinforcing its role in Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy transition agenda.
The company recently connected two new customers Intercontinental Distillers Limited II and Rumbu Industries Limited in Agbara, Ogun State, while also signing Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements with Boskel Nigeria Limited and Bluefinn Global Resource Limited in Rivers and Bayelsa states.
With more than 150 customers already on its network, SNG is seeking to attract more businesses by highlighting the economic benefits of natural gas over traditional fuels such as diesel. The company’s online gas volume calculator allows businesses to compare fuel costs and estimate savings from switching to gas-powered operations.
Established in 1998, SNG remains Nigeria’s only international oil company-owned gas distribution business. It operates over 138 kilometres of gas transmission and distribution infrastructure across Ogun, Abia and Rivers states. Recent investments have increased its distribution capacity by more than 150 percent, enabling the supply of over 150 million standard cubic feet of gas daily to industrial customers.
Speaking on the company’s impact, Managing Director Ralph Gbobo said SNG supports industries ranging from manufacturing and packaging to chemicals, steel and power generation.
At a recent business forum in Port Harcourt, stakeholders highlighted the potential of gas to revive struggling industries in the Niger Delta. The event also showcased investment opportunities across the gas value chain.
Gbobo said SNG remains committed to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions that help businesses reduce costs, expand production and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial base.
