Comrade Emeka Nkwoala (JP) has emerged the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the 2027 Delta State election, with a promise to surpass the achievements of the current administration.
Speaking during the party’s governorship congress held in Asaba, Nkwoala expressed confidence in his ability to challenge and defeat the incumbent governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, citing his political experience as former Delta State Chairman of the Labour Party and his leadership role within the ZLP.
Addressing party supporters, Nkwoala acknowledged the infrastructural strides recorded by Governor Oborevwori, particularly the engagement of Julius Berger in the construction of roads, bridges and flyovers across the state.
However, he insisted that the ZLP has developed a strategic blueprint aimed at delivering even greater progress for Deltans.
“No doubt, His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has performed well in infrastructural delivery. But considering the resources accruing to the state, I shall do far better because unlike him, I have no godfather but I have God as a Father,” he stated.
Nkwoala said his administration would work closely with the party’s candidates for the National Assembly and House of Representatives to achieve its developmental agenda.
He also highlighted the role expected of the party’s House of Assembly candidate, Sir Aghogho Green Meretin for Ethiope West State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, describing him as a grassroots mobiliser and former Majority Leader of Ethiope West Council.
According to Nkwoala, Meretin would help drive legislative support for policies focused on free education, improved healthcare delivery and accelerated road infrastructure development across Delta State.
The Zenith Labour Party Congress which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, was rancour free as party chieftains, leaders and members portrayed the virtues of unity, solidarity and commitment to win the Delta State governorship election in 2027
