The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, on Friday, 22 May 2026, paid a working visit to the commission’s Bayelsa State office in Yenagoa.
Ogbuku, who interacted with members of staff at the Bayelsa state office, expressed satisfaction with the warm reception and commended the workforce for their dedication, resilience, and professionalism.
He said the commitment of the staff remains critical to the commission’s renewed vision of delivering effective services across the Niger Delta region.
The NDDC boss used the opportunity to brief staff on ongoing policy reforms and digitisation initiatives, stressing that the measures are designed to streamline operations, eliminate bottlenecks, and promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

He particularly urged the workers to fully utilise the training received on policy reform and digitisation of the commission’s procurement system, describing the initiative as a major step towards ensuring competitiveness and capacity building among service providers in the region.
“These reforms are aimed at positioning our service providers for national competitiveness while enhancing overall efficiency,” Ogbuku stated.
Meanwhile, the commission has continued the oral interview stage for candidates of its 2026 Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, which began two weeks ago.
The exercise is meant to thoroughly assess shortlisted candidates with a view to selecting qualified beneficiaries for the overseas scholarship scheme.
The NDDC has consistently used the scholarship programme as a key component of its human capital development efforts in the oil-rich region.
