The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill, has reiterated his administration’s firm stance in support of student welfare and innovation.
Chike gave this reassurance on Monday, August 17, 2026, when students of the university visited him as part of activities marking the commencement of the SUG Week celebration.
Addressing the students, he stressed that the university was dedicated towards creating a favorable environment for the students to excel both academically and personally.

The VC requested them to concentrate on their goals and engage in constructive activities.

He reaffirmed the administration’s readiness to work closely with the SUG and other student bodies in addressing issues that would contribute to students’ academic and personal development.
He further expressed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support for programmes and initiatives that advance learning, innovation and student welfare.
He encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies and contribute positively to the growth and development of the university.
