The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has called off the strike against Seplat Energy Plc due to new promises from the company and the intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The call-off takes immediate effect after several days of industrial unrest that affected activities within Seplat premises, posing a threat to oil production. According to an official statement, PENGASSAN decided to call-off the strike in response to “constructive and productive negotiations” between Seplat management, union officials, and other relevant parties.

The Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPCL played a crucial role in solving the impasse, especially regarding the 2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The union reported that Seplat management has given verbal undertakings on welfare benefits, adding that both parties agreed to continue discussing the matter with the hope of sealing the agreement soon.
Seplat employees in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Eket, and other offshore areas are instructed to go back to work immediately. Earlier this week, the union announced the strike to protest welfare-related grievances and delay in concluding the 2026 CBA.
