Bonny LGA Chairman’s Bold Commitment to Youth Inclusion

In a decisive step toward redefining leadership at the grassroots, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has pledged to make youth representation the cornerstone of his administration.

During a meeting with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Bonny Chapter, led by Coordinator Valentine Jackmay on October 2nd, Hon. Pepple announced that 70% of his government will be comprised of young people. This promise signals a fresh wave of innovation, energy, and inclusivity in governance.

In my opinion, this commitment sets Hon. Pepple apart as a shining example of people-centered leadership. His vision to prioritize the inclusion of young people is not only progressive but also essential in today’s rapidly evolving society. By engaging youths in governance, he is unlocking a wealth of creativity and dynamism that can accelerate the development of Bonny LGA.

The chairman’s governance style reflects the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. His open-door policy has encouraged citizens to actively participate in decision-making, giving them a sense of ownership in the governance process.

This participatory approach has already begun to yield results, as projects and programs are implemented more effectively when people feel genuinely involved.

Under his leadership, Bonny LGA has witnessed steady improvements in key areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. These achievements are not accidental but rather the product of deliberate planning and a commitment to good governance. By ensuring that resources are managed responsibly and directed toward the needs of the people, Hon. Pepple has strengthened trust between the government and its citizens.

What makes his leadership even more commendable is the emphasis on empowering youths and vulnerable groups. Through initiatives that promote skills acquisition and economic empowerment, young people in Bonny are not only being prepared for leadership but are also actively contributing to the area’s development.

Hon. Pepple’s pledge of 70% youth inclusion is more than just a political statement, it is a bold and visionary step toward building a future where governance reflects the aspirations of the people it serves.

If implemented with sincerity and consistency, this move could serve as a model for other local governments across Nigeria, proving that true development begins with empowering the next generation.
