The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has cautioned educators, institutional proprietors, and prospective candidates against falling prey to deceptive online portals and entities masquerading as representatives of the agency.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of TRCN, Dr Ronke Soyombo, issued the alert in an official declaration released in Abuja on Wednesday, following disclosures of entities purportedly leveraging the agency’s name, insignia, and brand to swindle naive citizens.
Soyombo emphasized that TRCN has not empowered any representative, external consultant, third-party intermediary, or personnel to receive funds or handle enrollment, licensing, credentials, recruitment, or advancement outside its sanctioned protocols and legitimate avenues.
She noted that the agency’s legitimate portal, www.trcn.gov.ng, remains its sole authorized online hub for details regarding its initiatives and offerings.
“The Council does not own or operate any other portal other than our official website: www.trcn.gov.ng,” she said.

The registrar implored educators and key actors to remain cautious regarding social platform posts, WhatsApp broadcasts, electronic mail, and web domains claiming to provide access to TRCN enrollment, Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), credentialing, and secondary offerings.
She additionally alerted the populace against transferring funds into private banking accounts, emphasizing that the council never gathers revenue via such methods.
According to her, credentials and permits acquired through illicit avenues will remain unacknowledged by the agency.
“Certificates and licences issued outside our official process are FAKE, INVALID and NOT RECOGNISED by the Council,” she said.
Soyombo counseled citizens who have already remitted funds to dubious scam artists or received suspect phone calls, correspondence, or payment solicitations under the guise of TRCN to report these occurrences to security authorities and notify the council via its legitimate correspondence channels.
She revealed that the agency has instructed its legal counsel and appropriate security bodies to probe and try individuals caught impersonating TRCN or defrauding citizens.
“Such fraudulent acts constitute criminal offences and will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she said.
The registrar urged educators, institutional heads, and other actors to validate details through the council’s authorized channels prior to remitting payments or acting upon any claimed TRCN offering.
She reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to safeguarding the authenticity of teacher enrollment, credentialing, and licensing frameworks nationwide.
