The Rivers State branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on Traditional Rulers to assist in promoting peace and stability within the state.
During a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo, the Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Oha Apara IV of Apara Kingdom, State NUJ Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia emphasized that collaboration with traditional rulers is essential for reaching the grassroots and fostering economic and social prosperity.
Comrade Bazia expressed that the newly elected NUJ Executives are prepared to develop a narrative that will lead the state into a new phase of growth, highlighting that traditional leaders are important catalysts for positive change in their communities, reflecting the genuine values and traditions of their people.
“As journalists, we believe that every story told in Rivers State should aim at creating opportunities. The goal is to promote the state to a global audience,” Bazia stated.
While seeking support from the Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council for the forthcoming Media Summit, the Rivers NUJ Chairman noted that this event aims to promote a new economy that is not reliant on politics and oil for the state’s future.

Comrade Bazia expressed gratitude to the Royal Father for hosting the NUJ Executives and promised to support the council in its endeavors continuously.
In response, His Royal Majesty Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo congratulated the new NUJ Executives on their electoral success and emphasized the necessity of maintaining professionalism in their work.
Eze Worlu-Wodo highlighted the significance of journalists in society and cautioned against unethical behaviors, stressing the importance of reporting on developmental matters that can enhance the community.
The visit included discussions and group photos with the council chairman and its members.
