NFF President Gusau Pledges Continued Grassroots Football Development

GISAU

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing grassroots football, stressing that building a sustainable football structure must begin from the ground up.

Speaking at the Nigeria National League (NNL) Monthly Awards ceremony held in Abuja, Gusau stated that no lasting football success can be achieved without investing in the grassroots and associated leagues, which he described as the “foundation for the future” of the sport in the country.

“You can’t build an edifice from the rooftop,” Gusau said. “One of the key commitments of my administration is to invigorate grassroots football. After two and a half years in office, we are beginning to see tangible progress. By the end of our tenure, Nigerians will see even more positive developments in our domestic game.”

The NFF President commended the organisers of the NNL Awards, saying such initiatives are crucial to inspiring excellence and rewarding outstanding performance across all tiers of the sport.

“Awards like these play an important role in motivating players, coaches, and administrators. They raise the bar and help create a culture of performance, which is vital for the growth of football in Nigeria,” he noted.
