Remedial works embarked upon by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, on damaged sections of Okikpe, Akwete -Azumini Road, in Ukwa East and West Local Government Areas of Abia State, has elicited joy among road users and residents.
Reacting to the development, a resident, Comrade Chibueze Njoku, who applauded NDDC for the rehabilitation, admitted that the repairs would be of great economic importance to the communities and motorists. Similarly, a trader, Lauretter Chikere, described as heartwarming, the move to the Interventionist Agency.
“That dual carriage way NDDC is working from Azumini to Akwa Ibom, they should continue with it. There are a lot of heavy duty trucks moving from Port Harcourt through this route to Akwa Ibom. Most often the trucks fall on the road because of the bad state of the road.”
“NDDC has done well to repair this road, it will be of great benefit to the communities.
The measure is a very good one and we like it.”
