Six things you should not do in the kitchen

Florence Uwaeme

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in a home, no matter how big or little a house is, it usually must have a kitchen attached to it.

If you are a recent visitor in your kitchen or any kitchen at all, there are things that you should never do in the kitchen while preparing a meal.

Here are our list of 9 of the funny but vital things to not do in the kitchen.

  1. Do not fry fish, chicken or beef naked

Well, if you are a nudist, this is definitely not the right time to go unclad in the kitchen because you are simply exposing your body to oil burn. Frying fish, chicken or beef is one of the extreme things to do in the kitchen and doing it naked keeps you at high risk of oil burn.

  1. Do not serve food without tasting it

No matter how much of an expert you think you are on culinary matters, it is advised to taste your food before presenting it to others. Tasting your food before serving it isn’t a dent in your expertise, far from it.

  1. Do not taste raw meat to check for seasoning

You may think this is harmless but trust me, it isn’t harmless at all because raw meats contain bacteria that could be harmful to the body when eaten raw. Your discretion should help you this time to know the exact quantity needed for that meat to taste t great.

  1. Do not open a pressure cooker while in use

As the name suggests, pressure cookers cook under pressure.

Pressure pots or cookers can be dangerous and harmful to the body if opened while still in use.

It is advised to always use the natural method of allowing the cooker to cool off naturally. This could take up to 10 to 15 minutes.

  1. Do not use metal utensils on non-stick pots

Non-stick pots are delicate cooking utensils and should be handled with utmost care. Using a metal spoon, fork or knife to scrap a non-stick utensil will damage your pot or frying pan. You and I know how expensive these non-stick utensils cost, keeping them safe and free from scrapping should be of great concern.

  1. Do not leave palm oil on fire without being close by

If you are a regular in the kitchen shenanigans with palm oil bleaching, you will agree with me that leaving your pot of palm oil on fire without being present is a great risk because when bleached, palm oil becomes highly flammable and could cause a fire in the kitchen.
