Rangers International FC are the champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season. After they defeated Ikorodu City FC 2-1 on the day of the season in Lagos State.
The victory in Lagos confirmed Rangers as NPFL champions for the ninth time in the club’s history, sealing another landmark achievement for one of Nigeria’s most iconic football institutions.
Report has it that before the Sunday final fixture of the season, the Enugu Rangers International FC were top of the table with 65 points. They were one point ahead of Rivers United FC, while they were locking horns against their final opponent, they played like champions and handled the pressure.
Rangers International FC scored goals in each half of the game. Captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored these goals, while Ikorodu City FC were trying to qualify for a competition. They had their first season in the top league.
Moses Ali scored the only goal for Ikorodu City FC in the second half, but was not enough to stop Rangers International FC from winning, and Rangers International FC won the game.
On the other hand, Rivers United FC beating Katsina United FC 3-0 but it did not matter, considering the fact that Rangers International FC finished the season at the top of the table, and won the league.
Rangers International FC played well in the last few weeks of the season. They won some games, including one against Bayelsa United FC in Yenagoa.
The coach of Rangers International FC said “we did not talk to the players about the title too much. We did not want them to feel much pressure.”
