The Obolo Youth Coalition (OYC) has frowned at the rising state of insecurity and lack of Government projects in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The youth organization wondered why the Obolo speaking area of the state is not considered for the many projects embarked by the state government.

President General of the OYC, Ijonama Mkpon Amon noted in a statement that the situation depicts total negligence and incompetence on the part of the state government.

Referencing the incident of the abduction of two Police Officers and a civilian within the Andoni waterways, in particular, he argued that a responsible and competent L.G.A. authority ought to have set up a committee to unravel the possible cause of the barbaric act to aid the facilitation of the timely release of the said victims.

Amon lampooned the Andoni Council Boss, Mr Lawrence Paul Lawrence for abandoning his official responsibilities to run after his personal benefits in the Companies operating in the area.

“This, the OYC delineates as official insensibility and consequently advises the said Council Boss to resign from the Office, owing to his incompetence.

“In the same vein, the OYC also condemns the perceived silence of the Rivers State Government on the insecurity in Andoni.

“A retrospective look reveals that the unwarranted incident of the brutal murder of personalities in Andoni, including an appointee of the State Government, late Hon. Emilia Nte during the 2019 general elections hitherto never attracted the Rivers State Government to make any press release on the incidents or visit the bereaved families”.

OYC also decried and condemned the tactical exclusion of Andoni L.G.A. in project execution in Rivers State.

According to Amon: “It is unfortunate that the Governor of Rivers State is obviously displaying official tribalism in his exaggerated project execution in the State, the OYC posited.

Citing the Flagg-off of three flyovers across Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City L. G.As. with instant mobilization to site and many more, Amon said in juxtaposition with the construction of the protracted OGONI, ANDONI, OPOBO/NKORO unity road, it is reasonable to deduce that the Wike-led administration is playing tribal politics.

The Obolo Youth President-General encouraged the Governor to fulfil his promise to complete the construction of the link road to better the lives of the people in the area.
