Igwuruta Communities Beg For FG, RVSG Intervention, As Flood Submerges Area

About Nine Communities in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers state have been submerged by flood.

Also affected are some schools and churches in the area.

The people of Omunwei and Agborga Communities have been rendered homeless. The communities have also resorted to the use of a makeshift bridge to access their homes.

Mr Enyinda Wali who hails from Igwuruta said that they have been forced to leave their homes while their children can no longer go to school.

They are calling for quick intervention by the federal and state government.

In the affected Omuahia and Omumah communities in Igwuruta, the residents were seen packing their loads to unknown destinations.

A resident in the community, Mr Chika Wogu said properties worth millions of naira have so far been destroyed by the flood.

Commenting on the situation, the Councillor representing Igwuruta ward in Ikwerre local government legislative Assembly, Mr Churchill Wali said the effect of the flood has been devastating.

Mr Wali appealed to relevant authorities to come to the rescue of the people to mitigate their suffering and call for federal and state governments intervention in their area.
