Another 300 level Rivers State University student slaughtered in bloody cult war

There seems to be no end in sight in the cult clashes ravaging Rivers State University as another 300 Level Marine Engineering Student of the University was killed on Wednesday morning on his way to school.

The victim commonly known as Montana Million was slaughtered this morning by suspected cultists, his classmate said.

President of the Student Union Government, Elvis Osima-Gogo said Motana Million was killed in a bush close to Ignatius Ajuru University of EducationRivers State on his way to school

The Police in the state said on Tuesday in a statement that its personnel arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a final year student the institution, Prince Tuaka, on Monday.

Tuaka, a final year student of the university was gunned down minutes after his final exam.

His killing sparked a wave of reprisal attacks on the campus on Tuesday, leading to the disruption of academic activities. However, the military was drafted to suppress the attacks.

Governor Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, issued a query to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Blessing Didia.

The governor also gave him 24 hours to respond.

Meanwhile, Civil societies organisation in RiveState have joined in condemning the cult clashes at the Rivers State University, especially the reprisal attacks that followed after killing the final year student.

RIVSCO noted with concerns the porous nature of security in and around the campus even as the students writes their promotional and second-semester exams.

The spokesman of the civil right council Prince Wiro in a chat with TPCN reporter, noted that the query issued to Professor Blessing Didia, the Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University by Governor Wike over the killing of a final year student and exchange of gunfire between two rival cult groups in the school who were later dispersed by the Police was in order.

He said “I expected the VC to know that he is supposed to beef up security on campus especially during the second-semester examination.

“From the history of RSU most cult war breaks out during second-semester exams.

“After the shooting of the final year student Monday evening, the VC ought to know that there must be reprisals attacks if there are security lapses.

“No Police patrol van was sighted in the school yesterday. The Police only came when the two groups engaged themselves in exchange of gunfire.”

He urged the Management of RSU to be proactive rather than been reactive as “a stitch in time saves nine”
