The Yoruba Community Association in Rivers State has called on the Federal Government to launch an investigation into the death of late Moshood Abiola.

The President of Yoruba Community in Rivers State Dr. ADEKUNLE ALABI during an event organized by Ekiti Parapo Club in Port Harcourt to mark the democracy day said launching investigations into the death of Moshood Abiola will reveal the cause of his death.

MKO Abiola the presumed winner of June 12, 1993, presidential election died on July 7, 1998, the day that he was due to be released from prison.

ADEKUNLE ALABI also commended the Federal Government for renaming National Stadium Abuja in honour of the late MKO.

He, however, said renaming the National Stadium Abuja after Moshood Abiola is not enough.

”June 12 being declared as a public holiday is a welcome development and at the same time renaming the National Stadium Abuja as MKO Abiola stadium is also a welcome development, but if you ask me it’s not enough, we look beyond this”.

We want his death investigated, how did he die. If they can go into that, the whole Yoruba’s will be very happy” he said.

Dr. ADEKUNLE ALABI also said that true democracy can thrive in Nigeria when we get rid of ethnicity, corruption and selfishness.

He said Nigeria can return back to its original master plan when our leaders enthrone rule of law, patriotism and genuine love among themselves.

Elsewhere, the Initiative for Change and Development ICD has called on the federal government to tackle the rising insecurity in the Northern part of the country.

The Director General of Initiative for Change and Development ICD ICHENWO GLORY also call for total industrialization of the country for employment creation among the teeming youths in Nigeria.
