Muslim leaders in Rivers State warn against fake Islamic doctrine

Muslim leaders in Rivers State have warned worshippers on the dangers of fake Islamic doctrine, describing the development as worrisome.

The leaders under the auspices of Ansarul-Islam of Nigeria, Rivers State which implies helpers and supporters of Islam disclosed this at their annual public lecture on Sunday in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on the topic: “The necessity of returning to the Qur’an and Sunnah, an Islamic scholar, Ustaadh Ma’aruf Muntari told the gathering that any act of disobedience to the Qur’an and Sunnah which means the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad will lead to destruction.

He said, “it will be difficult to understand the true teachings of Islam if a Muslim obeys the Qur’an and refuses to follow the Sunnah. That is why we are here to encourage our fellow Muslims to obey both the Qur’an and the Sunnah”.

Exposing some of the fake doctrines introduced into Islam, the second lecturer, Ustaadh Abdullahi Uthman who spoke on the topic, “Evil of innovation and the people of innovation” maintained that a lot of Muslims have deviated from the true teachings of Islam as a result of false Islamic doctrine.

According to him, “we are here to teach them the reason why we are Muslims and the purpose of Islam.

“We want them to stand by only what Allah has revealed in the Holy Qur’an and to let them know that deviation will not increase our status in the sight of Allah.”

Giving an overview of the public lecture, the Spiritual Instructor, Ansarul-Islam of Nigeria, Rivers State, Imam Abdussamee Abdussalaam said the event centres on returning Muslims back to the core teachings of Allah.

The Imam said the topics seek to address the problem confronting Muslims, noting that, “we want to instil the true teachings of Islam in the minds of Muslims and that they should stay away from the things that are new to the Holy Qur’an”.

In an interview with our correspondent, the Amirah (President) Ansarul-Islam of Nigeria, Rivers State, Hajia (Mrs) Memunat Bello enjoined muslims to live their lives in accordance with what the Qur’an says.

“It is important for our fellow Muslims to always seek to know what the Qur’an says at all times. This will guide us not to deviate from the true path of Islam. For instance, the issue of hijab-wearing, the first thing to know is if hijab is a commandment by Allah or not. When they know the truth, no one can discourage them not to wear hijab.

The Amirah expressed hopes that the public lecture will help re-enthrone the true teachings and practice of Islam.
