Mob burns girl to death for aiding robbers (graphic pictures)

A girl has reportedly been burnt to death for aiding bike robbers.

The incident happened in Obudu, Cross River State on Friday 28 December 2018.

The young lady and graduate from the Federal College of Education FCE Obudu, Vivian Okpara alias “Chinagold” was forcefully seized from her apartment by some men, stripped naked, beaten and dragged to the cyclists park in Obudu and roasted to ashes while a huge crowd watched.

She was alleged to be aiding and abetting robbers and kidnappers in the town.

A report by CrossRiverWatch is indicating that, contrary to the widespread allegations, the young lady may have been killed to settle a gang grouse.

CrossRiverWatch reported that on Thursday December 27, 2018, a member of a gang was killed in Obanliku LGA, which is next to Obudu LGA in northern Cross River state.

On getting the report, the Police in Obanliku moved in and arrested three suspected members of a rival gang in Obanliku and moved them to Obudu police division after their cohorts attempted to forcefully remove them from the poorly secured Obanliku police station.

CrossRiverWatch gathered from top security sources that the three arrested suspects went to kill the deceased in Obanliku on the prompting of their female friend and popular call-girl named, Lucy Abanka alias “Mama Fresh.”

The deceased is said to have been having issues with Mama Fresh who reported him to the gangsters who then went to kill him.

A security official familiar with the investigation told CrossRiverWatch that when the gang members of the deceased heard of his killing by rival gangsters and possible cause and learnt that Mama Fresh, who allegedly invited their friend’s assailants spent her night in Chinagold’s house in Obudu, they then informed members of their own gang in Obudu to trail Mama Fresh.

A veteran journalist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ray Ugbo Murphy who also posted it on his Facebook page wrote…

#Dear_Obudu_friends,
home and abroad, Good morning,

The videos of a non indigene girl (pictured) burnt on friday 28th Dec by youth without intervention of elders, chiefs or leaders, call for prayers & penitence! It may even call down anger of the Divine unless urgent steps are taken!

If there were proven allegations against her, the traditional thing to do is to banish her and escort her out of the town. The alternative thing to do is to hand her over to the police.

But to parade her around the town for hours, dehumanise her and then burn her is a new low in the history of Cross River. And then what was she suspected of? She was suspected of being in league with bike thieves. It was claimed that her boyfriend is a thief. So where is the boyfriend? Was she caught red handed? Was she caught with a bike? To be dragged out of her house and brutally murdered is reprehensible, unacceptable and abominable!

Under normal circumstances, how believable is that allegation? A girl who had finished in FCE, OBUDU, and stayed back to trade!

She may well not be innocent but she does not in the least deserve that treatment. This is a sacrilege, this is unafrican, this is unchristian and this is unObudu!

1. How does this kind of action help the reputation of Obudu at a time when an Obudu son is governor?
2. How does this help attract investments and skilled persons to Obudu?
3. How does this depict all Cross Riverians in the eyes of the world?
4. No matter how temper rises, elders and wisdom must prevail!
5. The elders and chiefs must bring their youths under control.

I am virtually an Obudu person and I am alarmed that this will happen in that beautiful scenic town. A town that is so well regarded by the whole country because of the ranch.

Will this now encourage or discourage visitors to the ranch?

Please my people, NEVER AGAIN will you allow the youth and cyclists descend so low into mindless barbarity! I must tell you, I am numbed by this kind of action coming from Obudu, the land of the most educated! Kpash!!
Thank you!
