The Super Eagles of Nigeria are now one victory away from reaching the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.

This follows their three two victory over Libya in Sfax, Tunisia, in their group E game of the 2019 AFCON qualifier.

A brace from Odion Ighalo and one goal from Ahmed Musa gave the Super Eagles the victory.

The Super Eagles had gone two goals up in the first twenty minutes but the Libyans levelled up two all before Odion Ighalo scored the late goal to seal the victory for the three-time African champions.

The Super Eagles are now topping the group with nine points from four matches while South Africa is second with eight points.

Libya is in the third position with four points while Seychelles sitting pretty well at the bottom of the group with just one point after playing out a goalless draw at home against South Africa in the matchday four of the qualifying series.

The Super Eagles will next face South Africa in November in matchday five of the AFCON qualifiers. A victory for any of the team will secure an automatic ticket for the side in Cameroon 2019.

Meanwhile, former Secretary of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN Rivers State Chapter, Olalekan Ige, has commended the Super Eagles for their three two victory against Libya in the 2019 African Cup of Nations AFCON qualifier in Tunisia.

He said the Eagles did the most important thing by beating Libya home and away to claim six points from the two matches.

”I think what is more important is to get the six points from the two games. We beat them four nil in Uyo and beat them three two in Tunisia. Usually, during qualifiers, you may not play fantastic football but what matters is the three points in the bag.

“I think we need only one more victory to pick the AFCON ticket in Cameroon” he said.

Olalekan Ige also lauded the performances of Francis Uzoho during the two games against Libya. He said the goalkeeper saved the team from conceding a lot of goals against the Libyans.
