Confusion as Rivers APC factions sell forms to candidates

There was confusion on Sunday as the factional party secretariat of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressive Congress led by Prince Peter Odike, began selling forms to House of Assembly aspirants for the 2019 general elections. The faction is loyal to Senator Magnus Abe.

The faction loyal to the minister of transportation and led by Ojukaye Flag-Amachree had already begun selling forms to candidates on Thursday after it adopted indirect primary for the upcoming primaries on Wednesday. The faction cited security concerns as the reason for the decision.

It is unclear weather the factions will host different primaries.

Abe, during a live program on African Independent Television, declared that the party in the state cannot adopt indirect primary due to several court cases that the party is presently embroiled in.

The party is deeply divided with supporters loyal to both the Minister of Transportation and leader of the party, Rotimi Amaechi and the Senator representing Rivers South-East in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe.

In an interview with one of the aspirants on Sunday, he stated that the party is poised towards taking over the State come 2019.

Theportcitynews gathered that all the aspirants paid for their forms last week to the factional party chairman who later travelled to Abuja them.
