Woke’s statement is misplaced – Enyi

The Chief press Secretary of Free Rivers Development Initiative, Chizi Enyi, has described as misplaced, comments of the Chief of staff of the Rivers State Government, Emeka Woke calling for the resignation of Rt Hon Chibuike and Senator Andrew Uchendu.

It will be recalled that, the
Chief of Staff of the Rivers State Government House, Engr. Emeka Woke, called on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, to immediately resign his appointment as a federal minister based on his insistence that power must rotate in Rivers State.

Engr. Woke made the demand while addressing a crowd that included over 5,000 that decamped from the APC to the PDP during the voter sensitization campaign held at Emohua, on Saturday.

According to Engr. Woke, it is only when Rotimi Amaechi resigns his appointment for a Riverine to become Minister, that he can be taken seriously about his desire for power rotation in Rivers State.

“Let the Minister of Transportation resign his position for the Riverine, along with Senator Andrew Uchendu, representing Rivers East Senatorial District for Okrika or Etche Ethnic Nationality before they can be taken seriously about their desire for power rotation.”

However, Chizi Enyi, while responding to Emeka Woke’s speech, insisted that the calls for power rotation among the three Senatorial districts in the state, will give all the districts a sense of belonging.

“There’s no justification whatsoever, in the statement credited to Emeka Woke, that Senator Andrew Uchendu should resign, or RT Hon Chibuike Ameachi should resign as minister of the Federal republic of Nigeria, if they believe that power must rotate.

“In the case of Senator Andrew Uchendu, George Sekibo was holding the position before Uchendu. George Sekibo is not an Ikwerre man. George Sekibo is an Okrika man.

“Formerly, Sir Keneth Kobani, was the minister. Tammy Dangogo was also the minister, and later Amaechi became the minister. They were not Ikwerre people.

“What we’re saying in essence is that, where an Ikwerre man has held a position, he should go to another place. “Because Power must rotate.
