Fubara Pledges Ultimate Sacrifice for Rivers Harmony

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has affirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring tranquility, stability, and advancement within the state.

Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, he stated that no personal or political cost is too great to achieve these objectives.

Fubara reassured his supporters that all his decisions, including the recent rapprochement with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, were made with the collective welfare of the populace at heart.

Acknowledging the palpable unease and disillusionment among many of his loyalists in the wake of the peace agreement, he stressed that challenging periods necessitate tough choices and mutual concessions.

He further clarified that the reconciliation path was not unilaterally decided, emphasising that key stakeholders and trusted associates within his political circle were consulted at every juncture.

Fubara conceded that adapting to the new political landscape might be difficult for some, particularly those who staunchly supported him through turbulent times.

Nevertheless, he underscored that the paramount objective remains the enduring peace and stability of the state.

He also expressed regret over the adverse effects the political unrest has had on governance, noting that numerous development initiatives across the state had experienced considerable setbacks.

Fubara however, conveyed confidence that with the reconciliation efforts now in progress, the pace of project execution would soon accelerate.

Addressing the lingering tensions post-agreement, Fubara recognised Wike’s pivotal role in his ascent to the governorship, affirming that this political history is indelible.

He implored his supporters to demonstrate their allegiance and faith in his leadership, even if immediate political gains seem uncertain.

Reaffirming his dedication to peace, Fubara revealed that President Bola Tinubu had directly intervened, issuing an explicit directive for both Fubara and Wike to reconcile for the betterment of Rivers State.

In a heartfelt appeal, Fubara urged all those who share his vision and believe in his leadership to embrace peace, allowing the state to heal and progress to a new phase of development.
