Super Eagles Star Moses Simon Confirms Nantes Departure

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has officially confirmed his departure from Ligue 1 side FC Nantes after six successful seasons with the club.

Simon, who also operated as a left winger, announced his exit in a heartfelt statement accompanied by a one-minute, fourteen-second video shared on his X page on Tuesday night.

Reflecting on his time at the club, the 29-year-old wrote: “Six seasons of giving it your all with your heart. Sprints, crosses, thrills and etched memories. Thank you, FC Nantes, thank you, Beaujoire. I leave with pride and a piece of this club in my heart.”

The former Ajax player initially joined Nantes on loan from Levante in 2019. Following an impressive campaign, Nantes activated the option to make the move permanent, and Simon went on to sign a four-year deal with the French side.

In December 2023, Simon extended his contract with the club until 2026. During his time with Les Canaris, he made 201 appearances, netting 37 goals and providing 42 assists.

Simon played a crucial role in helping Nantes avoid relegation on several occasions and was instrumental in the club’s back-to-back Coupe de France final appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Notably, he helped Nantes secure their fourth Coupe de France title in 2022 after defeating OGC Nice in the final.

In the 2024/25 season, Simon contributed eight goals and ten assists, helping Nantes finish 13th in Ligue 1, six points above the relegation zone.

The Nigerian international is now set to join newly-promoted Paris FC, who will be returning to Ligue 1 for the first time in 46 years.

According to multiple reports from France, including L’Équipe and Foot Mercato, Simon completed his medical on Tuesday ahead of a reported €7 million transfer.

His arrival is expected to bolster Paris FC’s squad as they prepare for the challenges of top-flight football.
