Group Dismisses Rumoured Resignation of Gov. Fubara

The Enforcers of Good Governance (EGG), a prominent socio-political grassroots movement, has described as “a lie from the pit of hell” the circulating rumours that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is considering resignation.

Reacting on the issue in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, 25 June, 2025, the group’s spokesman, Comrade Igwe Jefferson, dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious fabrications being propagated by political detractors determined to destabilize the state.

“We consider this false narrative as nothing but the premature ejaculation wish of individuals and forces who do not mean well for Rivers State. These enemies of progress are merely attempting to divert attention from the harsh realities currently plaguing our dear state.”

EGG highlighted pressing issues such as the collapse of economic activities due to prolonged political instability and a worsening sanitation crisis that has seen refuge heaps taking over major roads. The group reaffirmed that Governor Fubara remains firmly committed to the mandate freely given to him by the people and continues to demonstrate resilience amid growing political pressure.

In a related development, the group announced the commencement of a statewide door-to-door sensitization campaign in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. This initiative, it said, was launched during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting and is aimed at promoting the President’s ongoing economic reforms and progressive policies.

The group also called on President Tinubu to reconsider the imposition of a state of emergency in Rivers State, urging him to act in line with democratic values. “We urge all Rivers people to remain steadfast, vigilant, and united. No amount of propaganda can subvert the will of a determined people,” he concluded.
