Coalition Hails Usoro Akpabio’s Appointment as SSDC MD

Relief International Africa, in collaboration with the Coalition of Niger Delta Leaders on Peace and Community Development, has hailed the appointment of Miss Usoro Akpabio as the Managing Director of the newly established South South Development Commission (SSDC), describing it as a major step toward inclusive development across the region.

In a statement jointly signed by Ambassador Green Isaac, Executive Director of Relief International Africa, and An. Alrad Etuk, Senior National Advisor, the coalition extended warm felicitations to Akpabio, calling her emergence both timely and well-deserved.

“Your appointment at this critical juncture reflects not only your extensive experience and dedication to regional development, but also the confidence reposed in your leadership by stakeholders committed to a prosperous and peaceful South-South region,” the statement read.

The coalition expressed optimism that Miss Akpabio’s leadership would drive the Commission toward equitable growth, sustainable development, and effective service delivery across South-South communities.

“As a coalition committed to peacebuilding and grassroots development, we look forward to strategic collaboration with the SSDC under your stewardship.

The coalition also noted that her appointment represents a symbol of renewed hope for the people of the South-South zone and urged all stakeholders to support her tenure.

The South South Development Commission (SSDC) is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing the long-standing development gaps in the oil-rich but underserved region and in fostering unity, peace, and economic progress.
